THE STYLING CAMP

Longboard Dancing from finger to toes

The term ‚Styling‘ has its origin in dancing and refers to the personal expression a dancer adds to basic movements. For us styling is not just moving arms or body while being on a longboard. For us styling is showing your personality on the board, carving, being in the moment, connecting to yourself.

What to expect from

THE STYLING CAMP

In line with our slogan from finger to toes, we will focus on how you can consciously use different parts of the body to style your longboard dancing. We’ll explore movement first on the floor and then on the board. Connecting upper body movements to deep carves and smooth ride. Our vision for the Styling Camp is to guide you into finding your own movement identity. You’ll receive professional guidance in both dancing and longboarding, which you can then use to experiment. The styling camp is not about following rules, it is about exploration, awareness and building up confidence in longboard dancing.

Styling is showing your personality on the board, being in the moment, connecting to yourself and the movement.

Highlights:

The Styling Camp is a space for experimentation and exploration. Experience a safe space free from judgement and with focus on connection: between us, between you and your movements, between steps, and between all parts of your body — from finger to toes.

BODY AWARENESS CLASSES

We designed this class to help you feel more at ease and more connected to the way you move when you’re on the board.

With guided exercises we’ll explore how each part of your body can move independently and what you’d like then to implement on the board. We’ll give you space to discover your own style, rhythm and your own way of moving.

Even off the board, we’ll play with the foundations of longboard dancing (cross steps, Peter Pan, 360 step, skiers) breaking them down and restyling them with curiosity and creativity. So then you can implement this style of yours into your riding.

LONGBOARD DANCING CLASES

In the Longboard Dancing Classes, we’ll focus on the basic steps and how to link them together. Above all, we’ll practice how you can playfully develop and refine the basic steps to create smooth and interesting transitions — for example, through more carving, variations in timing, and small extra movements. Always with the goal of using your whole body and not just focusing on your feet.

VIDEO ANALYSIS

The video analysis is a great way to get professional feedback from both Line and Debby. It will take place at the end of our adventure. We will watch videos that we film before, and you’ll receive detailled input. This way, you’ll get constructive feedback that will help you continue to style and refine your longboard dancing in the future.

Line

Salsa dancer on and off longboards

I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember. Music instantly makes me move. My movement is deeply influenced by latin dances, salsa, lady styling, samba as well as hip hop and jazz. For years skating was simply a way to move through the city. Until I discover Longboard Dancing. I realized I didn’t have to stop dancing when on my skate. Instead I could bring my movements onto it. To explore even new way of moving with this additional moving floor. My longboard dancing has always been into exploring deeply each movement rather than collecting tricks: how many ways exist to make a peter pan while engaging all my body parts? Making it as gracious or as connected to the board as possible. As an instructor, my intention is to guide you toward your own style, to help you feel confident, expressive, and find new ways to connect to your body on the board. I can’t wait to explore with you your unique identity on the board!

Debby

Longboarddancer and -instructor

The longboard has been with me for almost half my life. I started longboard dancing quite early on and immediately fell in love with the sport. I had never before practised a sport that motivated me so much. So I started training several times a week and constantly expanding my repertoire of steps and tricks.

Today, the sport is an integral part of my life and I am infinitely grateful for that. Longboard dancing has brought many people into my life whom I would not want to be without. In addition, I was able to gain great experience in various advertising jobs and started my own business in 2021.

It gives me enormous pleasure to pass on my knowledge and experience to others. I celebrate every little success of the participants myself, because I know exactly how great that feeling is. It doesn’t matter whether the person is on the board for the first time or has been doing it for a long time.

Longboarding is not only a practical way to get around, it also builds self-confidence, promotes body awareness and sharpens your eye for the small successes in life. I am very much looking forward to passing on this joy to you.
